Present Status


The ARC-EN-CIEL project is under evaluation on the French national roadmap for large scale infrastructures. In the context, the CDR is under finalization. A decision from the French Ministery is expected regarding the TDR to be acrried out in 2008.

The ARC-EN-CIEL scientific case is still in construction. Potential users are welcomed to submit their proposal or to express or to express interest ("Become part of it").

During the TDR phase, several workshops devoted to the scientific case will be organised.

In order to experimentally demonstrate the core concept of ARC-EN-CIEL, i.e. seeding a FEL with high harmonics generated in gas, a CEA-SPAM/SOLEIL collaboration was established with SCSS (Riken, Japan).

Seeding with 160 nm generated in gas with the SCSS e-beam at 150 MeV allowed the generation of a narrow spectral band FEL fs pulse on the fundamental at 160 nm and on the non linear harmonics up to the 7th one i.e. 23 nm [1].

Besides, experimental studies are also conducted on Ti-Sa laser seeded FEL based even and odd coherent harmonics, both in case of a planar and helical undulators [2, 3].
